Gorilla is a technology company that enables energy retailers to gather and process vast amounts of critical data. Beringea’s UK funds led Gorilla’s £5.2m Series A in 2022, before subsequently participating in the energytech company’s £20m Series B in 2024. Gorilla’s customer base includes leading energy retailers across the UK, Germany, US, and Australia, such as Drax, ENGIE, and Centrica.
Digitising the energy transition.
The global race to net zero has put heightened pressure on energy retailers to collect and analyse data. Electrification of energy grids around the world are placing far greater importance on tracking and managing energy usage. And yet, energy retailers are grappling with outdated digital infrastructure that is struggling to keep pace with the growing volume and complexity of data. Gorilla was founded to solve this market need and digitise the energy transition.
Enabling efficiency for customers.
Gorilla’s cloud-based data processing platform handles far larger volumes of data than traditional on-premise solutions and outdated spreadsheets. In turn, Gorilla’s platform allows energy companies to achieve significant improvements in efficiency and performance. For example, Gorilla enabled Centrica managed to reduce complex quotes generation for its business customers from multiple days to under 3 minutes. This focus on efficiency has powered Gorilla to become a vital solution in a transforming industry.
